Terms of Service
These Terms are a legal agreement between you and [Legal entity / your name] ("we", "us") governing your use of the Uname app and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 17 years old to use Uname. By using it, you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you give us is accurate.
2. What Uname is — and isn't
Uname is an AI companion. Its messages are generated by artificial intelligence, not a human. Uname is designed to feel warm and personal, but:
- It is not a person. If you sincerely ask, it will be honest that it isn't human.
- It is not a substitute for professional care. Uname does not provide medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or other professional advice.
- It is not an emergency service. If you are in crisis, thinking about harming yourself or others, or facing an emergency, contact your local emergency number or a crisis hotline immediately. Do not rely on Uname for urgent help.
AI can be wrong. Don't rely on Uname's statements as fact or as advice for important decisions.
3. Your account
You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at support@uname.ai if you suspect unauthorized use. You may delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Delete my account).
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for anything illegal, harmful, harassing, hateful, or abusive;
- impersonate others or misuse the connections feature to contact people without their consent;
- attempt to break, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service;
- use the Service to generate content that exploits or endangers minors, or that violates others' rights;
- scrape, resell, or build a competing dataset from the Service.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you create (your messages, notes, voices, and uploads). You grant us a limited license to host, process, and display that content solely to operate and provide the Service to you — including sending it to our AI providers to generate responses (see our Privacy Policy). You're responsible for the content you submit and confirm you have the right to share it.
6. Connections and other people
Some features let you connect with other people you know and share rooms with them. Be respectful. Only add people you actually know, and only share what you have the right to share. We are not responsible for the conduct of other users.
7. Subscriptions and billing
Parts of the Service may require a paid subscription ("Uname Pro"). If you subscribe through the Apple App Store (or Google Play), payment is charged to your store account, subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and you manage or cancel them in your store account settings. Refunds are handled under the store's policies. Prices and features may change with notice.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will be accurate or appropriate.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD $50.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g., content license for processing already-submitted data, disclaimers, limitation of liability) survive.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms. If changes are material, we'll update the effective date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [country/state], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of [jurisdiction], unless your local law gives you a non-waivable right to a different forum.
